Do you offer anything similar to Swedish massage?
We get this question a lot. We do not provide your typical table Swedish massage at Zen Well because we believe that Thai massage is much more beneficial to your body. However, if you are looking for the closest thing, our Full Body Package with 40 minute foot/hand massage and 20 minute chair massage is going to leave you feeling just as great (if not better) than you would with a Swedish massage.
Why the open massage area?
In Thailand and other spas that base their practice on Thai massage the open spa experience is typical. In Thailand they believe in communal healing; if you hear someone else having a good healing experience you will too. We realize that it’s not typical for most spas, that is why we try to incorporate some privacy and noise reduction aspects of your typical spa.
Why do you have a cancellation policy for appointments?
We have a very modest 2-hour cancellation policy for every appointment to protect the time of our talented massage therapists. Reserving an appointment reserves their time, which is their career and livelihood. We want to be respectful of their time, therefore there is a 50% cancellation fee to ensure they are compensated.
Should I arrive early to my appointment?
Yes, especially if this will be your first visit with us. We usually have a quick form for you to fill out to provide us with details to tailor the best massage for you, and give you the option to change into comfy clothes for your massage appointment. Arriving early also allows you to start relaxing and transitioning from the outside world to best enjoy your massage.
What happens if I am late?
We understand problems pop up last minute or traffic is a little more heavier than predicted, so we will always do our best to adjust your appointment to provide you with the most massage time as possible. However, sometimes this is not possible and you will receive less time than booked. You will still be responsible for the full cost of the service if you arrive late, or charged the 50% cancellation fee if you miss your appointment completely.
Can my child receive a massage?
Yes! Massage is a great wellness tool and it is never too early to start great habits. We just have a couple rules to make sure everyone has a good experience. Minors under 15 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times during their experience at Zen Well. Minors under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian signature on our massage intake form. Minors under 18 years of age will be booked with a same gender therapist unless express permission from the parent or guardian is given.
Do I need to leave a tip?
A tip is a generous gift to our massage therapists, but it is never required. If you would like to thank your massage therapist for their service, it is customary to leave 15%-20% based on your satisfaction. The gratuity is not included in the service price.
Do you offer first trimester prenatal massage?
Yes we do! We believe it is important to be healthy throughout the entire pregnancy. All of our massage therapists are trained and knowledgeable about the different aspects of massage throughout the different trimesters. If you have any concerns, it is always best to discuss them with your medical doctor first.
Is there a time when I shouldn’t get a massage?
Sometimes, massage is not the right thing. If you have been in a recent car accident, we advise waiting a minimum of (72) hours before receiving bodywork. If you have had a recent surgery or have just given birth, it is recommended to wait a minimum of (1) month before booking a massage. It is also not recommended to receive a massage while being impaired in any way, including being under the influence of alcohol or drugs, even some prescription drugs such as muscle relaxers or anti-depressants. Please check with your doctor if you have any concerns about your prescribed medication and effects of receiving a massage.
Is my privacy protected?
Very much so! We use a secure booking software called Booker that is one of the best in the industry. Booker is proud to be Level 1 PCI compliant—the highest form of credit card security in the industry—which means that we encrypt all customer credit card data stored in our system. When your credit card is charged or added to your account, we’ll only see the last four digits of the card number, nothing else. We also follow closely with HIPAA standards to ensure the privacy of your personal data and medical information.
